Freight quotes and a shipping platform, run by a freight brokerage
GetShippingRates is a service of Armstrong Transport Group, a freight brokerage headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, with about $2 billion in annual revenue. Every quote on this site is answered, and every shipment booked, by Armstrong’s team.
Who is behind it
Armstrong Transport Group is a licensed property broker that arranges truckload, LTL and specialized freight for shippers across the United States, from offices and agents around the country and its headquarters at 1120 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC.
GetShippingRates is built and run by Armstrong’s LTL division, led by Ryan Poynter, Senior Vice President of LTL and author of The Complete Guide to LTL Shipping. The same team handles quotes, bookings, claims, appointments and billing questions for shipments arranged here.
What it covers
- LTL shipping: 50+ national and regional LTL carriers rated at once, booked online.
- Truckload rates: An all-in truckload price for any lane, fuel included, in seconds.
- Parcel shipping: Box and envelope rates priced in the same platform as your freight.
- International freight: Air and ocean freight quotes, door to door or port to port.
- Reefer LTL: Instant temperature-controlled LTL rates: chilled, frozen or ambient.
- Final-mile delivery: LTL plus two-person home delivery in one all-in quote.
What books online and what doesn’t. With an account, LTL books online and prints the bill of lading. Truckload, parcel, international, reefer LTL and white glove are priced instantly in the platform, and Armstrong’s team confirms the carrier and books them. Parcel labels can’t be bought online yet. Customers log in at app.getshippingrates.com.
How Armstrong is paid. There is no separate software license. Armstrong is the broker on the freight it arranges and earns its margin on those shipments; the price you’re quoted is the price you pay, plus any accessorials added at pickup or delivery.
Where the prices come from
The price ranges on the guides come from 97,360 LTL shipments Armstrong arranged, picked up September 2025 – August 2026: what shippers were actually billed, rounded and grouped so no customer can be identified.
Rates priced at the moment you ask, from Armstrong’s carrier contracts and rating connections: 50+ LTL carriers at once, and live pricing for truckload, parcel, reefer LTL, international and final mile. Armstrong’s team confirms them before booking.
